Plank Gratings

Argus Steel distributes safety plank grating built for high foot traffic, moving equipment and exposure to moisture or chemicals. As a national distributor, we supply Grip Strut®, Perf-O Grip® and Traction Tread™ in multiple profiles and metals so facilities can standardize walkway grating, aluminum walk planks and grip strut treads across their operations.

Our team supports industrial buyers who know the basics but need assistance comparing plank grating options and part codes. For large projects or multi-location orders, we provide consistent product availability and quick-ship support.

Products We Distribute

Grip Strut

Grip Strut is used where slip resistance and drainage are top priorities. Each plank forms a series of serrated openings that deliver traction at nearly every angle. Because the surface sheds mud, frost and debris, it works well for metal grate walkway systems. We distribute stainless Grip Strut, aluminum Grip Strut, and galvanized or HRPO steel versions.

Perf-O Grip

Perf-O Grip uses de-bossed openings and raised perforated buttons to create directional traction in demanding spaces. The pattern provides a firm hold under wet or oily conditions while maintaining open area for drainage and airflow.

Available materials include stainless steel, aluminum and galvanized or HRPO steel. This design is often selected for metal walkway gratings where workers need a stable footing during repetitive daily movement.

Traction Tread

Traction Tread is engineered for stair applications, plank-style surfaces or ladder rungs where uniform contact is important. The pattern offers continuous slip resistance and steady footing without adding unnecessary weight. We distribute stair treads, ladder-rung components and plank sections in various materials to match load and environmental needs.

Stair Treads and Ladder Rungs

Stair treads are available with several nosing styles, carrier plates and pre-punched holes to streamline installation. Options include serrated surfaces for high-traction applications or button-style patterns for consistent contact across the step. Ladder rungs follow the same principles, delivering a slip-resistant surface without adding bulk.

Materials and Finishes

Safety plank grating is stocked in several material grades, each suited for different exposure levels:

  • Steel (HRPO or galvanized)
  • Aluminum 5052-H32 for lightweight aluminum planking or aluminum walk planks
  • Stainless steel in 304 or 316L for corrosive or sanitary environments

Finish options include pre-galvanized surfaces, hot-dip galvanized coatings and stainless finishes such as 2B or 2D. Most materials are supplied in mill finish unless otherwise specified.

Sizes, Profiles and Part Codes

Plank grating is offered in multiple widths defined by the number of diamonds:

  • 4-diamond: Approx. 9-½”
  • 5-diamond: Approx. 11-¾”
  • 8-diamond: Approx. 18-¾”

Channel heights generally include 1-½” and 2″ profiles. Standard lengths are 10′ and 12′, though custom lengths can be quoted.

A basic part code includes width (diamond count), channel height, gauge or thickness and a material indicator. Stainless codes include “S” or “SL,” while aluminum codes end in “A.” Any tread ordered with carrier plates begins with “T-.”
